999s Termignoni issue

  1. hi all, okay so i got my first ever duc on a 06 plate, a stunning 999s mono from a ducati dealers about 6 months ago, haven't really had any issues with the bike all been said shes been a grate insight to ducatis for me.

now yesterday i had her stuck on a rolling road just out of interest really to see how she was really performing, well the results were not to good to say the least, between 4000 and 7000 she was running far too lean, fueling is all over the shop!

basically i think the guy who had the bike before me just put the slip on termis on and did nothing to the ecu to get the mapping right!! when i got the bike i asked "had she been mapped for the cans" and was told "yep all set up!!" :|

so my question is 1, where is the ecu situated i believe its near the battery? and 2, just by looking at it how will i be able to tell if its a stock ecu or one suitable for the temi's?

i have the print off and can upload if anyones interested,

    cheers Mr Tibbs

  2. where did you get it dynoed and why didnt they look to sort the fuelling in whatever ecu is fitted, especially as lean is more dangerous than rich....as can be done these days by any good dyno place?

the cpu is bolted behind the bottom of the battery and a bitch to get at, you probably wont be able to make any sense of the numbers on it anyway......plus they may not be relevant.

I recon you should just go to CJS near bristol.....he will sort it for you....

  3. Regardless of which ECU the bike has it's still not going to be 100%, I had a PCIII on mine with the full system but obviously times have moved on

  4. thanks for the info, i used a local guy called Bill, (muts nuts dyno) in williton, hes runs a mobile dyno business but hes old school and does a lot of carb stuff. makes some awesome motors for older bikes, and one offs that sort of thing,

he couldnt do anything with it due to not having the right leads or programs i guess, the only resoin i dynoed it was to see how it was actuly running, bloody glad i did now, just hope there is no real damage, i have no idea how long shes been running this lean,,

iv tried to call CJS but no answer il keep trying thanks for the advise :)

  5. if you do a search on here youll see how well respected chris is with this sort of stuff........although not cheap though none are really, what price do you put on your engine....

Jon pc111 is a bit old school now.........

  6. contact with Chris has been established, nice guy very helpful, not cheep but like Andy said cant really put a price on a blow motor..

  7. You'll not be disapointed and I reckon you'll have 130 at the rear wheel. How much was yours dyno'd at.

  8. Well it was 2005!

  9. well iv already got 128.7 ph, and 77.4 torque, and the fueling is al to cock so, high 130's would be nice.but just to know the engine is as it should would be grate,

  10. yeah I'll up that to 138 then ,same as mine . :upyeah:

  11. so i little up date,

i dropped the duc off at CJS dynos, on tuesday, when i found the place!! the place is a ducatilist heaven!! and the guys there actually know what there on about witch is a grate confidence booster because i trust no one to work on my bike,, but i was more than happy to leave it with them
got a call from Chris just now (nice lad) already got 136hp out of her, that 7hp more and hes still got lots to do fingers crossed for 138 peter!

  12. well done mate looking god.

  13. well done good looking god :upyeah:

  14. hi all. right then the final up date :)

i picked my bike up thursday, and spent 4 hours there talking to little chris, big chris and lou,

the knowledge these guys have between them is insane!

i now hand on heart will not let anyone els look at my bike, let along work on her. The care and commitment to get the smallest jobs right is a real credit to them selves.

if your like me and feel that the care has been lost in the motor trade, then panic not there is a band of tea drinking men in a small works shop just out side Bristol that have restored my faith!

i can only ask you if your reading this to show some support and ether follow them on facebook, or book in a service! too loss these guys would be a massive blow to the ducatilists of the south west!!

so getting back to the point the bike went in running 128hp at the wheel and 63nm of Torque,

shes now pushing 138hp at the wheel, and 73.8nm of torque!!

not a cheep exercise but worth every penny knowing shes running as she should.

massive thanks to those who put me in there direction!

    much love fanxyaa good night!

  15. I'm still learning about ecu's , can't you get the stock ecu re-writen or did you have to buy an aftermarket chip or something?

  16. yes you can and cjs does along with several other places re write the std cpu......

  17. Yeah totally agree with andyb, CJS is where I went. He remapped my standard ecu for my slip ons. Gained 10 hp!! Check the links above to his web sight. :)
