SORN and Insurance -not

  4. I`ve just rung Swintons about this.
    They checked with my insurer who confirmed my bike is still covered while on sorn, but only for fire and theft.
    Went I take it off sorn, the fully comp cover will start again. They did say to ring and double check this, just to be safe.
    No problems with Swintons here, slow news day at MCN me thinks.
     
  5. Where is this all going to end, surely there is less risk for the insurers when the bike is on a sorn parked up and not being used.
     
  6. It's a bit like house insurance. If you leave your house empty and unoccupied, you have to tell the insurance co and possibly pay an extra premium, otherwise cover lapses. You could argue the risk is less (no-one to accidentally start a fire, etc) but insurers do not accept that.
