So i just sprayed the bike after cleaning up and i bought the bike with a heat wrapped exhaust and it has a carbon cover. Just fired it up and saw white smoke which i know from previous bikes the heat spray burning off however the carbon exhaust shield just started to go almost brown only after a middle of idling. Any idea what that is, will it be fine if i leave it for a few days to dry? i've got a 700 mile ride to scotland and back in the next week and worried about that catching fire or something mental
Muck Off contains PTFE which has no heat resistance. Likelihood is your brown staining is the burnt PTFE residue. Burnt plastic has a reputation for being stubborn to get off. Andy
What's PTFE? Plastic like a non stick pan? Do you reccomend not using this or acf50 for bike protectant then?
I've been using ACF50 for two years now on all finishes, carbon, plastic, paint and lacquer, hot and cold with no problems at all. I had used Muc-Off PTFE previously but it doesn't offer much corrosion protection so swapped to ACF50. Can't say I had any problems with it on carbon but it does burn ff hot surfaces with a lot of white smoke. Hopefully OP's discolouration will clean off.
I don't use either of those and my DP carbon heat shield has changed colour on its own, i would imagine due to the heat it is getting. Might just be that?

I'm convinced that a muck product made the acf50 coating turn into a white residue. Had taken ages to remove, so I don't use muck products anymore.
I've heard so many negatives about Muc-Off (inc from Nelly as ISTR) that I chucked anything of theirs that I had in the garage away.
