Cadwell Bsb...bike Security?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by PeteW, Aug 26, 2016.

  1. Thinking of getting my arse along to watch BSB at Cadwell on BH Monday and wondering if I really need to put my 37kg Oxford Granite chain in my rucsac. I don't have a U-lock but got a disc lock. Am I (i) paranoid or (ii) a nob for even thinking about not taking my chain? Is theft (of bikes or even parts) an issue on race days?

  2. Yellow 996??

  3. Over the years a few bikes have gone from the bike park. I would make it harder to take mine than the next one

  4. Yep. Are you asking, "Yellow 996? Who the hell would want to nick that?" or "Yellow 996? Of course you should take a big lock, you twonk!" ?

  10. Pete W- me bikes been nicked, I'd like to make a claim
Insurer - was it locked and secured sir?
Pete W - no, I didn't bother......a bunch of people on the internet that I've never met said it would be ok
Insurer - no problem sir, it's clear you took very sensible measures. We'll pay out in full and your ncb will be unaffected. Have a nice day
    Result!
    :upyeah:

  11. I use a small u lock through disc with thinish trip wire thru lids and jacket sleeves.

  12. Unless you can actually chain it *to* something or it is long enough to pass it through front and rear wheels and frame, I can't see why the chain is any more of a deterrent than a disc lock.

  13. Sod it. I'll go the Lakes and feed the ducks instead. At least I'll get a decent bag of chips. I ain't carrying that chain to Lincs. No chance.

  14. I'll be at cadwell on Monday and I won't be taking a chain or locks, can't see the point if it can be lifted into a van. My bigger worry is the fact that anyone with a set of Allen keys could in a matter of minutes walk away with lots of goodies.
It's all a game of chance.
