Anyone Purchased Chinese Copy Fairings For 916?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Thecoke1, Sep 7, 2016.

  1. Hi everyone,

I am looking at buying a 916 but it has a 998 fairing fitted. Looking on Ebay it is difficult to purchase both side fairings and the belly pan parts in one go except for the Chinese copies. Obviously I would prefer to buy original fairing parts but if I can't get these I wondered if any other member has experience of the chinese copies?

    Thanks for any help.

    Bob.

  2. Give Russ at Ducati mondo a ring. He has loads of panels in but not new.

  4. IMG_0002.jpg After an accident in 2014 I put a set of panels from China on my 748 BP (the panels are the same as the 916) and found them to be of good quality, better if anything than the original Ducati parts. The kit included all fairing panels including a screen and a seat (I chose a single seat) and front mudguard. The screen was tinted and I changed it for a clear one.
There was a downside. My bike is yellow and the colour is a little darker than the tank which is original. If I had just bought the seat panel on e-bay it would have cost over £300. The whole lost, including carriage cost less than £300.

  5. Hi Stanforth,

That is great feedback and exactly what I was looking for. I know this is a long shot but do you know which seller (I'm guessing you bought them through Ebay) that you purchased from? Obviously I'd much rather buy them from a recommended seller.

    Thanks again,

    Bob.

  6. I called him regarding some bearings after you suggested them. Parts guy loves you and your bike :). Really nice guy, talks a lot, made me late for my appraisal at work. [emoji2]

  7. Yes I got them though E-bay but as it was some time ago and I don't have the computer I used for the transaction, I can't help with the identity of the seller. I seem to remember that it was the only one (at that time) selling a yellow set with no sponsorship logo. They were very helpful and I requested a mono seat (see the image in my previous post) rather that the biposto one in their advert. They did this with no extra charge.

  8. Thanks again, if I can't find some original ones I feel a bit more comfortable buying some Chinese replicas.

    Cheers,

    Bob.

  10. Wow, I never expected you to be able to produce that - thanks. He doesn't have any fairings liste at present but I will contact him to see if he still produces them to order.

Thanks for going to so much trouble for me. Have a great weekend.

    Bob.
