OK Folks, thought it would be useful (for some of us) to see what options we have taken to protect our pride and joy in our garages! hyperlinks would be handy along with thoughts of what works best. I have CCTV points over the house, monitored alarm and PIR detector in garage along with a Kryptonite anchor into the floor and a New York heavy duty chain and lock. Guess if someone really wants something they'll get it but wondered on advice of others what else we could do???
Guess it depends where you live. I leave my garage unlocked with 3 bikes in it. I park my car and never lock it at the house or in our local village. I park the bike in local places with the keys in it and my helmet and gloves on the bike. Not had a problem in the 12 years that I have been here. I do have CCTV in one of the bird boxes so that I can see what the blue tits are up to.
Umm, I don't have lots of stuff, I wouldn't bother with cctv tbh and I do believe that if someone wants the bike they will have it no matter what.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Used to be like that in Wales when I was younger, my parents used to leave the front and back doors wide open in the summer whilst we all went shopping, and still like that in parts of Scotland now I believe. God I'm old
Not sure advertising your security is a good idea Leave the yellow ones out as they won't be touched hide the red ones
Think of it like hunting. The hunter places a decoy, in this case a duck. The predator or predators start to approach the duck, they are thinking, oh tasty duck, I shall take that home. The hunter is a silent patient self obsorbed disciplined kind, not heartless, but ruthless if threatened. But, this hunter is protecting, this hunter is protecting the duck, it may well be a decoy, how is the predator to know. Now, this hunter owns the decoy, does the predator have a right to take it? Now, if the decoy wanted to leave on it's own free will, OK, but how would it, it's a plastic decoy duck. So, why leave a decoy duck. Somethings, even a decoy duck, need sunshine, need a wash, sometimes a decoy duck needs a kiss. The thing is, the decoy duck is not in the ownership of the hunter, the hunter is the keeper. The owners will say how you protect the decoy duck. The keeper needs some understanding, once a hunter defending against a predator, ending in the punishment delivered by the owner.
I watched a youboob video of truck drivers getting stoned, not stoned as in, yeh I'm stoned, ain't life fanny astic, stoned. Or pissed, but it looks mental. Anyway, look after your ducks. A dodgy area could be next to the 24/7 were I get my paper and the doors don't open automatically Roses? No I'm not stoned, I don't do drugs! Just read it correctly. Is it too late to delete my duck post? Mmmmmmm duck. Duck Sauce is a groovy tune.......Barbara ding ding ding ding Nice doggie
So Evo ... what do you think of our earth women, eh? Different from what you're used to I'll bet! :Cigar: Security? The garage door doesn't lock, I leave the keys to the bikes in the ignition, the connecting door with the house is always open and ... ... in your dreams. I have a French Neutron Bomb attached to several pressure sensors fitted somewhere in the garage. Have at it.
It's true that if they want it badly enough, they'll have a crack at anything. My KTM got stolen whilst behind a wall. I was left with no bike and a new wall to build as they just knocked it down. They didn't even take the cover off, they must have cased it to see what was under it. That was in a sleepy village with a copper living next door who just thought we were moving furniture. Now i'm in a new area with a garage. Ground anchor in the garage, locked garage door tracker on the bike and 3 angles of cctv that record to a PC & the cloud as well as giving alerts on my phone. The new garage is being built soon and i'll expand my security to whole new levels with a new driveway gates and alarms etc... By the time I get an alarm/camera alert i'll be on the phone to the police and they won't even have gotten started on the garage door let alone the ground anchor.
I have mentioned before that our garage got robbed, security has since been increased and to be honest, it is not the nicest of experiences. Yeh, we had insurance, but that doesn't cover you for the invasion of privacy and insecurity it creates. The scum even returned for another load of goods, unfortunately by the time I got the car keys and got to the junction, they were gone, I'd a 50/50 choice to turn left or right. I picked wrong. Anyone who has experienced this will know the feeling. It isn't nice. My wife was glad they didn't get into the house.
