1200 DVT Aux Lights Fault

  1. I was having a run over to Ducati Aylesbury this afternoon to buy a couple of replacement main stand rubbers and to scrub in a new set of tyres, and I noticed the aux lights "on" symbol on the dash had gone out and a warning triangle had appeared. I tried a few aux light on/offs with the same result; the aux lights came on for a few seconds then went off and a warning appeared. I then tried it again after switching the bike off and on, with the same result. So I carried on to Ducati Aylesbury.

I explained to Ian (the service manager) that I was going on tour tomorrow (two weeks around Northern Spain and Portugal) and asked one of the mechanics to have a look at the fault for me. While I was waiting for them to have a look, I tried the lights again while the bike was parked up. Worked fine this time, even if I started the engine. They offered to check it out anyway. Wile waiting, I had a wander around the showroom and had a chat with the sales manager (we discussed the lack of 3rd year warranty option on 2016 bikes). I came back to the service desk to find they had traced the fault to the aux light wiring loom which they had replaced for me FOC under warranty - result. OK, they do know me quite well as I've brought 3 Multistradas from them over the last 5 years and they do all the servicing. Even so I a very happy customer.

  2. Good to hear about the excellent response from your dealer. Just a note about going to Northern Spain if you are using Brittany ferries to Santander. I did that crossing a couple of weeks ago and because the forecast was for a rough crossing they strapped the bike down extra hard resulting in a deformed seat when we got to Santander. The end result being that I'm getting a new seat and Brittany Ferries are paying for it. IMHO they did not need to strap the bike down so much. On the way back I put the bike on the centre stand so the pressure from the strap was even on both sides, unlike when the bike is on the side stand.

  3. Thanks for the warning, I did read your post in another thread about damage to the seat. I've used the Brittany Ferries crossings to Spain before, the last time was last September for a tour of the Pyrenees with the same bike. The crossing was dead calm and had no problems with the way the bike was tied down. I'll take more care this time as the crossing might be rougher.

  4. Sadly that level of service is non existant with the dealer that supplied my bike, no one seemed to know anything about the extended warranty and I'm still waiting for a quot
Lucky you that level of service in unheard off at the dealer that I purchased my Pikes Peak from, no one knew anything about the Ducati extended warranty and I still waiting (two months now!!) for a quote on a full Termi!!
