Morning All, just spent 5 mins with a hair dryer and some 12llb fishing line (They made me buy 300 fecking metres !!!) getting the ghastly reflectors off the forks, and while there put on the R&G mudguard extender. A little, but common sense tip for yawl, when the extender is fitted straight out the pack, it hits the tyre, so I used two 3mm wide washers behind the mudguard plastic to bring the whole thing back a little (probably about 3mm funnily enough) Works a treat and does not hit at all. PS. Try not to swear too much as you hold both bolts with washers behind mudguard and bolts, as a washer falls each time you get close to getting a bolt in :tearsofjoy:
Don't you think it's a bit much to have to fit a fender extender to get something resembling a mudguard, fitted one to my Multi but it rubbed the tyre. Ended up fitting an Ilmberger carbon one in the end as it was the longest I could find, but be warned it's a pig of a job to fit to a skyhook model though.
Yes, came in gloss, even though picture on flea bay was matt, what your seeing is 400 grade wet and dry and 5 minutes work.
I have the Pyramid Extender and mine came in matt and matches the Ducati plastic and doesn't rub on anything. Pyramid Plastics Online - MULTISTRADA 1200 2010 onwards Extenda Fenda 2010 -
I had the pyramid one on my last Multistrada, but the R&G one is longer and comes with more discreet push rivets and not self tappers, hence trying the R&G one, which is fine now and definitely long enough to keep the worst off the engine.
You could always fit the Enduro Engine / Sump Guard from Ducati / TouraTech on the DVT, that's what I have and (IMO) it looks good and definitely gives better protection for the exhaust, engine and sump. Ducati Performance Aluminium Engine Sump Guard, Multistrada 1200 DVT, 97380341A | eBay
I don't know as I don't have the Crash Bars (I try not to drop it- so far only once!) but the mountings are all underneath and on the engine casings so it should be OK. It is easy to remove as well - small trick take out the bolts on the Left and right engine casings that hold the guard mounting plates and not the small bolts on the guard itself, much easier to get at.
