  1. Wanted for 848Evo a ride height adjuster

  2. Bought mine on ebay.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. Had a look on ebay Bob, could only find adjusters from the states though.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  4. Look for a standard 1098 one too as they are adjustable

  5. @Jim2wheels Thanks for the heads up on the ebay item, I have a bid on it.
Paul, thanks for that, I didn't realize the 1098 had a height adjuster.

I've just removed my TTX shock and replaced it with the O.E.M shock, had to reduce the pre-load to get the correct rider sag and am now finding the bike very slow to turn as the ride height has been lowered, hence my need now for an adjuster.
I will probably be asking for advice soon how to set up ride height, my initial idea was to adjust the adjuster so it was about 5mm longer that the fixed link and see how that feels and experiment from there.

  6. Change the spring? Or adjust the front to suit?

  7. I will probably get round to replacing with a softer spring this winter, I dread doing shock removal/refit as it's such a P.I.A on these bikes.
I can remove the rear shock on my little KTM in 5mins, takes me around 8 hours on the 848. Piss poor design by Ducati, all they needed to do was to put a small 'swage' in the horizontal frame tube to facilitate shock removal, but because they haven't done this it's a real ball ache to remove/replace it.

  8. I take my hat off and bow to you sir. I have lowered that back of mine and cannot feel any difference in the steering. I suspect that I would have to lower it 10cm to feel a difference. Same with the ST2, lowered for me and then raised about 3 cm for my wife to ride it, even with over 40 years riding experience I cannot feel the difference.

  9. Surely if the sag is the same then the ride height is? If anything, if a firmer Spring then it will sit higher?

  10. Sorry Paul, don't understand your last post, probably me cos I'm not an expert in these matters.
When I had the TTX installed ( I initially found it far too hard with the 90 spring that was in it when I bought it, so I replaced the spring with an 80 which improved things greatly( my weight about 11 1/2 stone in birthday suit btw) and managed to get around 30mm rider sag with about 10mm still left available on preload adjustment .

I then swapped shocks, removing the TTX and replacing with the original O.E.M Showa -which as far as I understand comes with a far too stiff a spring for my weight. I have only ridden the 848evo a few times recently as I have been a tad incapacitated because of a nasty accident which happened late last year. Managed to get the necessary assistance to check my rider sag yesterday and found it to be about 20mm, so I know I need to wind off some preload, which is going to result in lowering the ride height with my amateur reasoning.
I was out with 'Cupid stunt' yesterday and was finding it hard to follow him as I couldn't get the bike to turn and it felt like it was running wide in corners.

My understanding is that I need to raise the ride height to get it to turn a bit easier. How does that sound?
    All suggestions very welcome.

  11. If it was 30mm before, and you have 20mm now, the back is riding higher. So if you get it to 30mm its the same. Unless you have moved the eccentric and adjusted the chain, if the spring is stiffer when you sit on it there will be less compression.

So a 30mm ttx may become 45mm with you on it, where the stiffer spring 30mm may be 40mm with you on it.
    Make sense?

  12. Ignore the figures (I see your rider sag was 30) its the principle I am (probably badly) trying to explain

Could be its so siff its not working in the right range?? If kts std spring thats likely; I never founds too soft and was 140kg when I had mine....

  13. Yep, makes sense now, thanks.

Been riding a little KTM 390 Duke for the last couple of months which turns so quickly, probably haven't made the necessary adjustments in riding style on the 848evo yet, and I really shouldn't be trying to keep up with 'Cupid stunt' either!
Just to clarify: If I raise the rear ride height, should that make the bike easier to turn?

  14. Lots of peolple say yes it does.

  15. You could try the Kyle way, and that is lift the fromt about the same amount. This lifts the whole cog so in theory (not mine! ) makes it easier to tip in. May be worth a go, lift a ring and see if that helps. 10min jib with a headstock stand
