1200 Radiator Goodwill

  1. Given that I personally prefer the pre-DVT engine and the Öhlins + SCU, I'd no sooner decided to hang on to my '10 for a little longer and get the cosmetic issues with finish sorted than the thing started overheating. It appears that it's suffering from the not uncommon problem of internal collapse of the matrix, which is pretty poor show for a 15k mile bike. Ducati Glasgow agreed with that and they've been pushing DUK for some goodwill. They've just told me that Ducati is going to provide parts (£800+), leaving me to pay for labour. That strikes me as a result and kudos to both them and Ducati in this instance. I've been pretty critical of Ducati in recent years, but this does help give the disillusioned like me some hope for staying in the fold.

  2. I has simular experiancees on my 2010 18 K mile multi with ducati winchester.

Dash, suspension ecu and loom were al covered but I had to pay labour.

al the faults were covered when the bike was 5+ years old

  3. Good to hear'

  4. It's good to hear this kind of info for a change, perhaps a post designated to such customer service

  5. Right, bets taken as to how long before someone post the exact opposite to the original thread ? :)

  6. So is it down to how good you dealer is at fighting your corner with Ducati UK and keeping your servicing up to date with a Ducati dealer?

With a lot of negative comments about Ducati after sales is it that the dealer does not follow the example of Ducati Glasgow above?

  7. I'm keeping very quiet :tearsofjoy:.

As you say though, I think most of it comes down to how well the dealer fights your corner. My local dealer couldn't give a *insert expletive here* and therefore Ducati probably didn't want to either.

  8. It's interesting that, when my bike suffered from premature corrosion to the swing arm and engine cases, I went directly to Ducati and got precisely nowhere, other than a blindingly ignorant phone call from Bologna. This time I started with DG and it's gone as I'd hoped.

  9. I started with the dealer, got nowhere so went direct to Ducati and got the same phone call.

  10. See, I did say didn't I

  11. You got a better deal than me. Ducati refused my goodwill request for a new dash on my Streetfighter because an unauthorised dealer (Louigi-Moto) had performed a service. There was no history of this fault with this model they said, so it must have failed due to my negligence and poor maintenance in using an unauthorised dealer to change the oil. I appealed and eventually they agreed to supply a new dash at half price (still £330). It had to be fitted by a Ducati dealer, I had to pay the labour and they wouldn't let me keep the old dash. And it took nearly three months to get sorted and cost me £450 + van hire to get the bike to the dealer for the initial diagnostics.

  12. My bike is serviced by Louigi moto and I just got a goodwill radiator from Ducati. I still think it comes down to the dealer mostly as to how much pressure they will put on Ducati uk and how well respected the dealers opinion is by Ducati.

  13. I got a phone call from Bologna telling me my request had been rejected because of my use of an unauthorised dealer. I said would this be the same unauthorised dealer who employs a Ducati factory-trained mechanic, who only uses genuine Ducati parts, who gets VIP invites to WDW and who you the factory have been trying for years to recruit as a dealer? They said hmm and in light of the "new information" I had given they would reconsider my case.
It shouldn't be that way. You shouldn't have to play the dealer off against the manufacturer or fight mindless bureaucracy for every little thing. And its bad for business. Bike manufacturers who wriggle like insurance companies to try and avoid putting their hand in their pocket inspire zero customer loyalty.

  14. I've had the real services (run-in, 7500 and 15000) services done at the dealer - other than that I've done an annual/3750mile oil & filter change myself.

  15. I've lost count of the number of times that performing an oil change has buggered the display. Had a nail through the rear once that was caused by the oil change being done 300 miles late. Stupid me!
