I need to check which springs are in the front forks, do need to take the forks off the bike or can i get it done by just removing the caps? If i have to change the springs do you need to change the valving to match? Im getting 40mm of sag with max preload(with rider)
Went ahead and tried to do it with the forks in the bike, no problem at all, the springs have no markings/numbers on them so does this mean they are stock ?
From memory the std weight spring is .95 which is pretty close for most riders weight. So if the preload adjuster are wound fully in then your going to need a stiffer spring rate from your friendly ohlins dealer. Best bet is to have a chat with him regarding your weight and if you plan to do Trackdays. He'll give you your best spring option.
i called Ohlins and told them what measurements i was getting and my weight, they looked it up and suggested changing both front and rear springs, ordered them and got them already, just installed them and now getting good numbers for rider sag, will go ride it tomorrow and see if i can tell any difference.
As soon as i sat on it and rolled down the driveway you can tell the rear spring rate has changed, was surprised it doesn't fell too hard while riding but couldnt give it a good run because of the bloody traffic, need to get somemore time onit to be able to dial in the comp and rebound.
Theres one thing i forgot to do after adjusting the suspension and a didnt even think about it. Went for a ride last night and the lights were so bad. Just a small suspension adjustment put the beam pointing to the ground! luckily its a easy adjust for both dip and main beam.
