Base layers

  1. Am looking for recommendations for base layer to wear under leathers on cold days.don't want anything to thick as makes leathers too tight .would ideally like one piece as two piece always seem to end up with a gap.thanks .

  2. i wear merino, bought from a outdoor shop, not cheap but good and seem to work, i also wear a Knox cold killer jacket over my leather, stops the wind

  3. I wear Alexander Wang Onesie in Merino with a hidden placket

  4. M&S do some nice thermal long johns ;-) and tops. No joke they are great.:upyeah:

  5. Merino generally and Icebreaker in particular works for me, and it is naturally antibacterial so it doesn't get smelly. Also use it skiing.

  6. I wear a Receka one piece undersuit which is more for summer use but EDZ do a winter version which is a bit thicker. If you wear one piece leathers then get a one piece undersuit (or two piece for two piece). On chilly days I then put on an EDZ pertex windchill liner under the leathers, this will keep the wind from getting through and its very thin and folds up to the size of a mobile if it gets warmer and you stash it in your bumbag. As a final layer at the beginning / end of season then I will add a windproof cycling jacket over the leathers, again vey light and thin so doesnt feel like you have all that kit on. The cycling jacket was bought from Aldi for something like £15/£20 and its even waterproof to a good degree.

  7. +1 for ice breaker. Merino wool is light enough and thin enough for your needs.

Don't think they make an all in one though.

I'm thinking the all in one is probably the way to go too.

I have some thin berghaus tips I wear too that also do the job.

Depending how cold you want to ride in a pertex windproof layer like the edz ones add a few degrees too.

I find though that no matter how warm my body is once my hands are cold my riding turns to crap anyhow.

  8. Heated grips??

  9. I have a pair to put on the 999 but my elefant project is taking over.

  10. EDZ do a thinnish one piece thermal base layer. I use it quite happily.
