I have a full termi system fitted to the bike at present. How easy is it to just swap the end cans over with the stock for the MSV track days? Is it possible or are the link pipes different diameter etc? Cheers
You need to switch the cans and link pipe, being fairly careful because the 3 bolts on the link pipe go quite rusty. Also u need to refit the exhaust servo motor and associated cables. Then finally u would need to remap the bike back to a standard map as the stock cans have catalytic converters in them. Perhaps u could get away with a servo buddy and then not need the valve but I'm not sure. In short it's really not that easy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you have a link pipe that will go from the Termi headers to standard cans, it should take less than an hour to swap over. However, unless the Termis headers are the same diameter, I'm not sure there would be a need for them to manufacture that link pipe (standard header to Termi cans , yes. Termi headers to standard can, not so much). As mentioned, it would probably mess with your fueling, but I'm looking into the Rapid bike module at the minute for exactly this reason. From what I've seen, it will adjust the fueling after the swap without needing to play with the map. So you could just keep swapping around.
Going off memory, standard headers 55mm, Termi headers 60mm, no way will it work just swapping the end cans.
So what is the difference between a full termi system including cans , and a stock system with Termi cans; is it a different link pipe? I ask since you can fit the termi end cans to the stock pipes when you buy the bike so there must be something that is shared??
They do a link pipe that goes from standard headers to their end cans for those that just fit the cans... not a lot of need for them to do it the other way round.
Thanks all - I'm seriously considering just putting the standard pipe back on for more track time!!!!
Aren't the standard cans to loud? Why not put in db killers in the termi's and I think I've seen some longer ones on eBay Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I have had some extended baffles made for the pani. The advantage of the standard pipes are most tracks will let you on for a drive by with them fitted but wont with the termi/akro's.
Mines been on with termi and I've seen some turned away with standard can on Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yes, the standard cans are around 108dB. Plenty loud enough. As mentioned, MSV have a specific clause in their noise testing terms and conditions (negotiated by Ducati UK as far as I can tell), that allows panigales to fail static, yet be allowed out on track. If they do not trip the ride by meters they can carry on. If you have aftermarket cans on a panigale the get out doesn't apply and you have to get it to pass the static.
Just to add, I've failed static tests at Bedford and Oulton, been allowed out once they check the cans are standard, and not had any trouble all day.
It is possible they were lucky, because the noise testers in general are sensible with the Panigales. However, I have seen panigales fail on Termis, not be allowed out, and get no compensation due to the clear statement on their website. So whilst you may get out, it isn't guaranteed, and I'd rather know I'm not going to have a problem.
Fcuk it - I'm going to put the standard pipe back on. I'd rather get on track than worry about the handful of BHP I probably never use anyway!!!!
Brands Hatch is the only track that point blank will not let you on with anything but standard cans. The other MSV tracks (Oulton, Snetterton, etc) will let you fail the static test on any cans as long as you are no more than around 5dB over. Any more than this is twice the noise level in real terms (as dB is a logarithmic scale) so you'll fail the drive by for sure. My Termis are about 103dB with the baffles in and I managed the day at Oulton and only got black flagged right at the end going for a really fast lap.
Spoke to MSV today - they said categorically that only standard cans would get the drive by chance.........
