Chaps, Recently I swapped the exhaust over for a termignoni with DP ECU. When I first put the ignition on, the fans came on straight away. Reading on various forums, it sounded like it was shorting out somewhere. I decided to send the ECU away for a bit of a health check anyway, and besides being mapped for a base 749 rather than the 's' that I have, all came back clear on the diagnostics. Refitted it today, but still having same problem. The fault codes are 1.1 (I realise the tps will need reset anyway) and 3.1 water sensor is shorting on power supply. I changed back to the standard ecu, and there are no such codes with it (obviously, I know I can run the standard one because of fuelling etc) Any ideas of what is causing this? Cheers Dave
Yes. At some point someone has connected the +ve and -ve leads of a diagnostic connector the wrong way round which burns out the sensor ground connection inside the ECU. The fix is to make a permanent ground connection to the Black/Violet wire of the diagnostic connector.
Thanks for that! I presume the only alternative is a new ECU (reflash my standard one to DP spec), and not a new water temp sensor?
