Insurance was due, so I phoned Ducati Insurance, who wanted a stuipd amount of money to insure two bikes, so I started phoning around. Eventually setted on H&R Insurance, who offered a reasonable price and had good reviews. Started confirming the price and got a shock when the excess was quoted as £1,000. Hang on, that's a lot of money. Can we reduce that? What happens to the premium? Big pause. Lots of elevator music. 'The price is reduced by £50. What? The risk is increased, but the premium is reduced?? Are you sure? Yes, we can't understand it either. Bizarre. I'll take it. Underwriters were Royal Sun Alliance too. Not some dodgy bunch.
Been with H&R for some time but had to leave as they did not want to touch monster when I gave them part of mods only, did not even mention big bore kit and got Nooo.
Insurance is a farcical comedy nowadays. 3 years back, insurance renewal for my modified SpeedTriple. Aviva direct wanted the wrong side of £1k. Talking to an established broker and get offered the exact same policy with Aviva for under £400. Questioned the exorbitant difference..."Funny you should say that sir, you're not the first person to say that this week"
Was with H&R for years with no problems, only changed when I purchased the D16 and only Ducati Insurance offered cover, no idea if that's still the case though
Was with h&r year before last. Had to send copies of licence which I didnt like, data protection and all that. Moved to mce as it was a bit cheaper and I had been with them before and they didnt have a stupid "paint back to oem clause.
