I have some FPS wheels as fitted to bevels and Pantahs around 1978-1982. They need to be stripped, crack tested and repainted or powder coated gold. I've removed all the brake discs and wheel bearings, but the problem is the cush drive drum on the rear wheels. The drum is attached to the wheel casting with five countersunk screws and two roll-pins. The screws have small allen-holes and the steel is quite soft, so given that they are Loctited in really tight the allen-holes give way before the screw comes out. And roll-pins are very difficult to remove anyway. Any suggestions?
hi soak with your fave penetrant allen bit in impact driver heat if you are sure they are not magnesium lm sure the roll pins are for location in hub if that fails drill the heads off the bolts regards Steve
First wheel this worked fine, all five screws came out. Second wheel, three screws came out, had to drill the heads off the other two. Third wheel, none of them would come out, so I have taken it to an engineering workshop (BLR of Wallington) to be machined. We will see how it goes. Welcome to BLR Engineering Ltd «
