1200 What's The Best Screen For Touring ?

  1. I have a 2011 1200s Touring and I like my long distance comfort and tend to take off the low screen for the the big tours. What can you guys recommend ?

  2. Depends on the season really, got low medium & tall touring screens. Prefer running on low most of the time. The angle of the screen creates a noisy buffer zone on my head. So prefer running into clean air which isn't great if it pisses down. Swings & round-abouts!!

  3. Taller one which came with the bike used to buffer the back of my lid so much it would make my vision blurry at high speed. Shorter puig in a light smoke finish looks and works better.

  4. I have a tall Cal-Sci that improved buffetting a LOT for highway speeds vs the stock tall screen. Didn't do much for noise. I'm 5'10, 30" inseam and it's just in my line of vision when accelerating and in high position. So I lower it when not cruising. My PP screen is spiffy for slower speeds, but I prefer the larger shield most of the time. I've gathered on the other D forum that the Puig touring is better. I'm thinking of trying one.

  5. Have you looked into MRA Screens?

  6. A lot depends on your height and helmet as these factors will affect noise and buffeting.
I've a DP touring screen set at half way with Eagle Screen winglets. At 5'8" this combination with my Arai is nigh on perfect. However, I'm afraid that the old saying 'one man's meat is another man's poison' applies to this subject.

  7. Thanks for the speedy response folks .... + I forgot to mention I have an MRA screen (It came with bike) seems OK ish just not sure if I can improve on it ...Please keep the suggestions coming I'm 5' 11" so I guess fairly standard

  8. I'm on my third screen already. Standard one seemed to low and made my helmet really noisy so moved to the MRA screen with the adjustable spoiler. The result was exactly the same as the standard. Fitted a taller OEM part yesterday and initial thoughts (50 miles) are promising. Seems quieter and offers more protection at this time of the year. It does get into my eye line a little but not too bad. Sorry forgot to say that the bike is 2016 1200S

  9. V-Stream in medium height or tall depending on your size. I tried nearly a dozen screens on my 2011 before landing on these. I ended up owning the N20500 (tall for winter and inclement weather, and the N20501 for fall and spring. I use a shorty in the summer.
I also installed the air deflectors from eagle screens and they are brilliant as well.
    Im 5'9" with a 30 inch inseam.

  10. Having tried a number of screens I've found either the the standard or Puig one with a Wunderlich deflector is the ideal set up for me.
The deflector really does work, it's easy to adjust and remove if you don't want it on all the time.
    Wunderlich VarioERGO screen deflector
