1200 Help Needed, Electric Suspension Not Working

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Freshwaters1, Jan 30, 2017.

  1. Can anyone advice please. The rear shock I believe should change the preload when switching between sport, touring, endure etc etc.. I believe with the bike parked up you should be able to hear/see the rear shock preloaded move as it changes?

When I switch on my 2010 s nothing happens. Any thoughts?

  2. You will only hear the rear shock pre load change if the setting in each mode is different. If there is a pre load fault you will get a fault message in the circular screen. I suggest you go into the set up and check what the settings are. Hope this helps, Andy

  3. Hi Andy, I have been in a reset to default for sport and endure so that should set them back to the factory setting. I was thinking sports and endure would give the biggest changes and hence I would hear the servo driving the preload.

  4. I agree that you should here the stepper motor but if it has failed you should get an error code. I'm not a fan of factory resets so I'd still go into set up and confirm that there is a difference. Andy

  5. Would having an Ohlins SCU stop it from maually operating? As the bike is new to me I don't know if it's got one or not( it has every other aftermarket bit on it!). The scu found on the left side under the small side panel by the seat has Ohlins stamped on it and wasn't sure if that is standard or not.

  6. Why don't you try changing it from 1 rider to rider pillion and luggage it should make a noise then
if not could just be a fuse, the motor you normaly hear is a pump pumping hydraulic fluid into your preload ring on the shock, have you noticed any oil / fluid on the pipe from under your seat to the shock? if so you may have a leak

  7. Thank you JCmental. Issue resolved......I'm an idiot and didn't think about the setting for luggage. Changed from one person to full luggage and I can hear the motor moving and the spring change. Thanks again.

  8. Funnily enough, it's the stock Ducati SCU that has "Ohlins" stamped on it. The aftermarket Ohlins one doesn't, IIRC.
