Actualy I think you are mistaken with that. I was told that it is a navy expression derived from the look of a tinned pudding when it comes out of the tin. My brother told me this and he was in the Senior service so he should know. Regards Steve
Wiganers are especially fond of this expression, that and 'lobby gobblers' " went 't' chippy for babbys 'ed 'n' gravy and it were full of lobby gobblers" ( people from leigh)...
