sebastian vettel - rules are rules. Strip his title or not?

  1. Well, rules are rules and to be honest maybe in the heat of the moment he simply didn't think and ran the risk.

looking at the footage I'd say it was pretty cut n dry he over took on a yellow so 20 seconds back puts him in 8th...... Loses the championship.

oh dear..... Oh dearly deary me

take a look below, as soon as the footage starts he passes a yellow flashing on his left, then another on his right and then as hes overtaking another comes up on his left.....plenty of warning youd of thought?

do the FIA have the balls? I think if he's done it then its fair. As much as I'm not fond of Alonso he's still risked his life all year and done very well in a pretty shit car so why shouldn't he take the title?

  3. I saw that on the sky coverage and wondered why nothing came of it. Bit late for a stewards but anything to upset the Germans is good.

  4. Apparently they have until tomorrow to lodge the official complaint.

i must say part of me thinks that Ferrari did the 'massa gearbox' thing so it's almost karma......BUT that is unfortunately within the rules and they didn't hide from that, they came out openly and all that did was bump him up on the clean side of the starting grid.

the overtaking under a yellow is pretty uniform across most motorsports and as its his own on board footage you can't really hide from that.

thing is just how much will Ferrari push this? I know Alonso wants them too but politically are Ferrari going to go after the crown of a driver they're hoping to land for the future?

Maybe they'll use this as leverage as a way of brokering an early release from Redbull? I bet there are some twitchy bums this morning and just imagine the toy throwing Alonso is doing at the moment :)

  5. If it was that "cut and dry" then why didnt they appeal there and then? Sounds like sour grapes to me.

  6. It's gonna sound like sour grapes isn't it, it's Alonso for a start :)

im just saying when you look at the footage you can see 3 yellows within a 30 second period during which he overtakes. so unless they're not showing the further few seconds (30-45 seconds) where he concedes that advantage and gives rosso back that place then I'd say they have grounds for the complaint.

im neutral in this cos I'm not fond of either driver really, I'd rather the Brits do well so I don't mind either way........ I just don't watch corro/eastenders etc so any drama after the race season is over is good to me :)

  7. Tricky one. Seb's quite pally with Bernie but Bernie also knows that the Red Cars are a major draw and that a bit of Machiavellian intrigue keeps F1 in the news.

If it had been Hamilton he'd have been DQ'd by the time he'd reached the next corner.

  8. aint that the truth :)

I guess its whether they think that starting the move before the greenflag is ok or not.

I was wrong earlier up the thread, its 2 yellows then the final looks to be green on the bbc footage but he's kinda done the move by then and im not sure that allowed either.

oh well, its win win for me, either Seb gets shafted and itll be german toys out the pram or Alonso gets it and.... well, i guess he'll throw even more out than he does daily ;)

  9. There are 2 drivers I really cannot stand in F1 they being Vettel & Hamilton I'd have them both DQ'd just for being there, the evidence is clear a blatant infringement was committed therefore he should face the consequences.

  10. Lets be clear here, Ferrari/Alonso haven't complained/lodged an appeal (yet) it was spotted by a TV veiwer.

  11. Waved green flag by a marshall ?

  12. Apparently this video shows the marshal waving a green flag on the left hand side just before the overtake. However it also shows the yellow lights still on in Vettel's cockpit...

I think that if two drivers argue over things like this, they should be found to be bringing the sport into disrepute and the championship should go to the next driver in line! :D
