Multistrada 1000 Ecus..

  1. Hello all!

I have a faulty Multistrada 1000 DS ECU.
The original has IAW 5AM.AO/ HW103/ 1210-DU35 written on the sticker.

I bought another 2005 Multistrada ECU (virgin) hoping for a direct replacement, it has IAW 5AM.BF/ HW610/ 2218-DU94 written on the sticker.

After fitting and setting TPS the bike starts and runs BUT the Idle Stepper motor doesn't function and the fuel guage is showing empty. Looking on diagnostics the ecu never goes into idle control and stepper always shows 0, stepper doesn't wind back on key off either.

I presumed that the same year ECU would be a straight(ish)? fit.

Is there anyway of reflashing my replacement ECU to activate the Idle Stepper and fuel guage output or is it incompatible with the bike? (does original HW103 vs replacement HW610 make a difference?).

Any help or input much appreciated!.

    Cheers Keith.

  2. The hardware (HW) number makes a difference. I think I have a HW103 in my collection of ECUs. If you want to trade your HW610 then I'm up for that. I will disable the immo and flash to correct map if you let me have the info.

  3. Hello Chris, that would be excellent if you could!, I will get the details to you this morning. Do you need the VIN number?.

    Cheers, Keith.

  4. Just the map number from the white label

  5. Hello again, I've got 1211PU01, 45+-1IM9D,
96511803B on the old HW103 ecu.

The Bike is a 2005 Multistrada 1000 S DS. Full Termi exhaust with carbon silencers (factory fit).

The bike kept coming up with a "ignition coil short or open circuit" fault even though it all the wiring and coils are fine + new ignition relay.

Is there anyway of disabling the check engine light for this fault? (doesn't matter if it's not possible).

    Thanks again, Keith.

  6. You probably have a coil driver fault on the ECU. I know Antonye at Avanti Racing has been able to get these fixed but it is probably cheaper to replace the ECU. I have a HW103 and also the map you need. PM me your mailing details.

  7. PM sent Chris, thanks again for your help; much appreciated!.

  8. At me too such problem. Motorcycle mileage 104000. Refused horizontal cylinder. ECU - HW103
checked all the wires and coils - everything is fine.

    who sells ECU HW103?

  9. Hello Chris, new member here. I believe I have the same problem - I'm getting no spark on the vert cyl, swapping coils still leaves the vert cyl with no spark. The labels numbers from my ecu are; MTS1000DUCATI031 AND SA07DU33 AND 3XU-15V5D (hard to tell U from V though). Can you offer any advice? It would be much appreciated.
