Update: Sad news unfortunately. My 848 is dead and heading back to the supplying dealer. After new hoses, cam cover gaskets and cam seal the leak was still there. Turns out the cam has been starved of oil and/or tampered with, resulting in the bike actually needing a new cylinder head and at least one cam. The cam has apparently been moving about and has badly scored the retainer. You can see how badly the cam has damaged the retainer. You can also see where the heat has discoloured the cylinder head. Sad day all round. Back to the drawing board
