Evening all. Had a new chain and sprocket set fitted today and now have an amber engine diagnosis (MIL) light come on. I went for the 42 tooth rear sprocket mod with 110 link chain, standard front sprocket. They took most of the day to do it as they couldn't release the rear nut which was seized apparently. Garage was closed so couldn't go back. When I got home noticed that the chain is far too tight which is annoying as I asked if they wanted the correct tension measurements. It's riding rough. Not very happy. Anyone know if the chain being too tight could cause the warning light to come on? Oddly the exhaust sounds different too!
There is no excuse for a taught chain. Did a Ducati authorised workshop carry out the work ? Unrelated to chain issue your other problem sounds like the exhaust valve just in front of the end can is ceased. Andy
Not a Ducati dealer as they couldn't fit me in and I got impatient to be honest. But reputable Yamaha dealer. I had the exhaust valve permanently wired open previously. Would they take off the exhaust to fit the new chain and sprocket set?
That explains the claimed difficulty releasing the rear wheel nut, no experience of 230Nm. To my mind it also explains the incorrectly adjusted chain. It is very likely they took the wheel off which requires the removal of the end can. Reputable in their mark for sure but I doubt experienced with the Multistrada. Hope you get it sorted soon. Andy
