821 Advice On Fitting Adjustable Levers

Discussion in 'Monster' started by John Mac821, May 16, 2017.

  1. I've ordered a set of MZS adjustable levers for my 821 Stripe and my question is, should I get the dealer to fit them or are they easy to fit and something I could try myself?

  2. they are pretty easy to fit, id do it yourself, if you were near cumbria id do it for you

  3. Thanks Oly, and I appreciate the kind offer. :)

  4. I'd be interested to know how you get on when you do fit them. I've never changed levers before, but wondering if the range of adjustability is significantly wider than the standard levers (albeit on my 1200). My hands are pretty small, and as a consequence would like the brake in particular to be a little closer to the bars if possible.

  5. I've ordered them from Amazon and they're not expect to arrive until the beginning of next month but as soon as they do I'll let you know. I watched a couple of 'How to videos' on YouTube and it looks simple enough, so we'll see.

  6. I just fitted the short evo tech ones on my 821 as well, and took 10mins to do both.
    It's worth doing yourself, and you can play with the adjustments to suit you

  7. Yeah, it looks simple enough. As soon as I get home and they arrive next week I'll get them fitted. Do they make much difference?

  8. On the short ones it does as it's more ideal for two or three finger users.
    I didn't have the originals when I brought mine though, so I couldn't compare to them

  9. Fitted a set to Mrs M's Monster yesterday, absolute doddle to fit and a great simple mod to do... Makes the world of difference being able to set the leavers t the distance from the bar that suits you best ;)

  10. I did my own and I am not in any way mechanically versed or experienced.

  11. Cheers guys, I'm looking forward to fitting them and having an adjustable clutch lever. I think the shorter levers look much better than the standard ones too. I just hope the levers I've ordered are good quality, I haven't seen them in the flesh yet. I ordered them on Amazon but they had good reviews and looked pretty good so, fingers crossed.

  12. Job done, :upyeah:. Fitted my MZS levers this morning and as you all said it was very easy to do. I'm really impressed with them, they look great and work brilliantly. And after a quick 30 mile test ride, they also seem to have completely eliminated the false neutral problem I was having too, which is fantastic. :). Great levers, excellent quality, light weight but really strong and for a great price, £39.99 of Amazon.:)

  13. How is the range of adjustability compared to stock?

    The stock clutch lever isn't adjustable and so I found myself sliding my left hand forward to grab it, the stock break lever is adjustable but with only 4 setting, where as the MZS levers have 6 settings and very easily adjusted by simply sliding the select lever to one of the 6 positions. See pics;

  15. Cheers. Both are adjustable on a 1200, with a screw mechanism so slightly different to the 821 clearly.
