Helmet Security At Motogp

Discussion in 'Touring' started by Daddy2coull, Jun 1, 2017.

  1. travelling to assen to watch the motogp this month. i'm guessing there will be places that i can pay to store my helmet during the race, but don't really want to be queuing forever at the end of the day to get it back. does anyone have any ideas for locking it to my biker the day?

  2. They were nicking radial brake callipers at Assen so a decent helmet chained to your bike wouldn't pose a problem for them.

  3. you fill me with confidence!!

  4. I wouldn't have any, Assen has a poor reputation. Andy

  5. worth even locking our bikes together then?

  6. You still need to make it as difficult as reasonably possible. Any security is going to make your bike less attractive so yes it is worth doing something. At Le Mans several years ago, we were advised to carry the v5 and Passport and security at the on site parking was very tight. As Chris said, high value parts have a habit of being stolen and a good quality helmet is an easy target. Standing in line, however mind numbing, might be your best option if you don't want to carry it. Andy

  7. appreciate the info thanks, i'll be looking for a helmet park and locking the bikes together!!

  8. Hope you have a great time and a safe ride. Andy

  9. I chain them to bike in carrier bags and jacket through sleeve as well sometimes in a bin bag. Seen too many queques at helmet parks.

  10. Years ago, myself and a few friends were attending what's known as a 'fete foraine' and we came across a lone motor scooter parked with a helmet chained to the handlebars, in the upsidedown position. The poor owner must have had a very wet, smelly ride home that night so maybe use the safety of the official helmet storage if you want to keep your helmet safe (and dry)!

  11. I tend to use either a top box or the helmet park dependent on the bike. Personally if no top box then I agree with android, a helmet park is annoying but then so is leaving the track at the same time as 40-50 thousand other bikes. It's a day out, I try not to worry about a bit of time here and there.
