1200 Pikes Peak Rear Brake Lever

  1. I nearly dropped my PP, saved it but in doing so the rear brake lever hit a low rock and has bent inwards. Tempted to try and straighten it but it'll no doubt snap ion the process.

So a new rear brake lever is required. Are there any after market options that are known or alternatives to the rather extortionate standard Ducati part.

Bike is a '14 PP (pre DVT).

    Thanks.

  2. If you choose to try and straighten your existing lever, you need to use heat to make it malleable. I have used a heat gun but found the careful use of a plumber's gas torch more effective. Andy

  3. I think the Enduro has an hinged lever. If you have to replace it that might be worth considering in the long term. Can't help otherwise on an alternative.

  4. The point of heat is to aneal it. For aluminium alloys this happens at much lower temperatures than it does for steal. I was always taught to put liquid hand soap on the thing. When it goes black take the torch away quickly. Cant remember if this was specifically for aluminium/zinc alloys but shoyld be a good place to start. If you heat it too much you will wreck it very quickly, not enough and you wont aneal it and are hence wasting your time. Aneal it first. Bend it back and aneal it again.
