Sidecar...

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by philoldsmobile, Jun 22, 2017.

  1. my friends father in law has a gorgeous 900ss i.e. With very low mileage. He is now in his early 70's and not getting any taller (he is about 5'4") and starting to struggle with it.

As a very knowledge chap (he has built and restored many highly desirable bikes) he has noticed that the ample breaks and torque of the two valve motor make adding a sidecar potentially a great way to enable him to continue to enjoy the bike. (He has crewed for an outfit at the Isle of Man many times, so has an affinity for sidecars)

Has anyone done it, or got any info?

  2. How about one of those minimal 'leaning' sidecars Learners could use in the 80's on a bigger bike.

Could it have been a Sidewinder?

  3. Trike? Seen a couple of monsters done.

  4. No, unfortunately not, needs to be a rigid outfit. He is struggling to deal with the bike at a standstill. It's already been lowered, too.

He doesn't want a trike, specifically wants a sidecar.

  6. Looks like it might be worth giving Watsonian a call.

  7. I may still have this hanging around - it stays upright when stopped and its nice and low.

But it doesn't handle 'like a bike', I can tell you.....
