  1. Why is the excentric in the wrong position? Tensioning the chain in time is causing the change in position depending from the lenght of the chain, isn't it?
    Or am I missing someting?

  2. What's the standar chain wheel on a 998 2002 biposto? At the moment there is a 36 on it.

  3. The chain should be adjusted anti clockwise as you look at it.

  4. 15/36 IIRC. I went for 15/38 and 2 extra links in the chain just to help with riding round town or in traffic.

  5. Gearingcommander.com will have standard sprocket sizes and chain links.

  6. I use 15/37 on my 998 and no chain lengthening required.

Good enough round town for me and no wheelie problems most of the time!

  9. You'll have great fun changing the bearings over..

  10. Hydraulic press is waiting ;)

  11. I would say uneven/uneven is better for not getting a 'repeat' tooth wear pattern.

I use 15/39 on the 916 but 998 has a closer ratio gearbox and different final drive ratio. I've heard people recommend 15/38 as the optimum? but you would probably need a longer chain than a 15/36.

  12. I run standard teeth on rear but 1 less on front for my 916. No issues.

  13. Just come back from a 150 mile blast to find metal shavings on rear wheel. Took it apart to find the same issue. Fairly worn but I can still get adjuster spanner on.

  14. Should be a recall on this imh, Safety issue? Or does Ducati say the cush drives should be changed regularly?

  15. I think you'll find these bikes are probably 12 to 15 years old.

  16. Ahh ok makes sense, Take it recalls only come in for a certain amount of years?, Just had a recall done on my 10 plate Kuga, Thats why I brung it up.

    Cheers

  17. And the rest, however there never was a recall even back when they were new and popping cush drives...

  18. Being a safety issue it's unbelievable this wasn't solved with a recall at the time. But we all know that you buy a Ducati with your heart, so we cover this problem with a(nother) blanket of love ;)
