Weirdness. Rode around a bit today, pulled in to fill up with go-juice, and my usual press of the on-off button (under the starter button, with the padlock symbol) didn't turn the engine off. I always use a long press of that button to turn the engine and electrics off - have done since day 1. Never had an issue. So I used the kill switch to stop the engine, but still couldn't turn the bike off, so the electrics, lights & dash were still all on. Long press, short press, hard press, nothing would turn the bike off. Anyhow, I did the fill up and rode about a bit more, then stopped again. Same thing. The on-off button would not turn the bike off. I gave the always excellent WM Snell a call. I had been in on Saturday for a warranty recall to replace the throttle grip and brake master cylinder, but the switch gear shouldn't be affected. I was worried I would never be able to turn the bike off unless I disconnected the battery. Rather excellent advice revealed that the emergency button under the plastic cover in front of the tank does the same thing as the one on the bars, so I pressed that and everything turned off OK. Since then, it's been totally fine, and has turned on and off using the handlebar button without any issues.
See other thread on recalls .. Seems 2015 DVT's have recalls on throttle tube and side stand. Fuel tanks and rear shock to be investigated and may be changed. ECU update pending to. Mines booked in M&S Newcastle.
I had a similar issue with my 2014 bike, turned out the button that the slider presses in stuck in when ever it rained, it also used to cycle through the heated grip setting while I was riding, I got a new cluster fitted but it went again so in the end I opened it up and stretched the return spring, haven't had a problem since.
Tobers, I had a similar thing a couple of times while on tour round Europe last month, but the kill switch stopped it in my case. Never failed to turn on though, if it was the button you'd think it would be the same on and off. Has been ok since, it was very warm at the time, over 30degC.
I know when I put my mobile phone in the same pocket as the key by accident it causes a few glitches. Also my hands free parking lock stuck on some months back (storeyed at J&L under warranty). A few weeks later a friend told me a new mobile transmitter had been erected near where I had parked the bike and that a nearby electric car charger point may be giving off emfs that could confuse the wireless tech of the bike?
Hi guys n gals back on an old thread do we don' have to start another. My 2015 Mutley DVT Base model today decided it would not switch off then would not switch on (the bike not the engine). Similar prodding of the on /off button as previously described on this thread til came on seemed OK after that so decided to check once home. So the question is how can the on/off cluster be opened? There's a tiny T5 orT6 star bolt underneath to the rear of the cluster - got that out but can't split to the two half's of the cluster
