1299 Engine Warning - Qs

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by no-way85, Jun 2, 2017.

  1. Afternoon guys and gals,

I was riding back from picking the bike up from the detailers yesterday and an engine error warning flashed up on the dash, then the sport icon kept flashing and quickshift was disabled.

I had to fill up on the way back and the error cleared when I re-started the bike but after 30 seconds it was back, the same as before.

There didnt seem to be anything wrong, no strange sounds, engine performance was fine, just this error and QS being disabled.

Any thoughts before I take it back to the dealership?

  2. Hey no-way, haven't had this myself but have read about similar issues on one of the US forums and it was related to water ingress under the seat causing havoc with the Italian electrics (imagine that). I'd leave it to dry for a day and then try it...

  3. As above, if it's just been washed likely water somewhere. May be worth removing seat and finding area of ecu and paper drying at least.

    :upyeah:

  4. It would have had an intensive wash, but that would have been a couple of weeks ago, cant imagine it still being wet and it had PPF applied so would have been bone dry for that. I did take the seat off yesterday and didnt notice and water, I didnt take the rubber cover off though, so will check that.

Checked connections to the battery, they seemed fine too

  5. Don't think it's anything to worry about despite the dramatic warning lights. Sounds like it needs a new DQS sensor. Relatively quick fix at the dealers. (I've had 3 replaced on my current pani).
If you wish to continue riding while waiting for dealers to get the part in etc , its best to completely disable the DQS via the menu & not 'let' the bike do it every time the warning comes on otherwise on occasion (and without notice) the bike can kangaroo as the throttle comes on and off.

Hope you get sorted quickly pal.

  6. Hey, thanks for the reply.

I have disabled the DQS and went out for a ride yesterday but everytime I started the bike the error would still flash up after about 20-30 seconds of riding. Did this happen to you?

Nothing else seems up with the bike, runs fine, sounds fine.

It's due a service towards the end of the month so will get it sorted then...

  7. Yes, you will continue to get the warnings until it is reset ( short term fix) or replaced ( slightly longer term fix!).

  8. Ended up being a replacement QS. They said that the old one (old, as in 10 months old) was shorting out for whatever reason.

  9. Mine failed while in the Pyranees , didn't get the QS warning tho, just had engine warning ! Turned off the DQS rode fine, bike is now at GT's having several warranty issues sorted, they will have had it for 3 weeks from tomorrow ..
Was going to trade it in, was offered £16k for it swapping for a R1M, but when you consider all the extras I've put on it, plus the Ducati extended warranty at, it is a bit of a kick in the ass lol

  10. Yeah mine was just an engine warning, but it disabled the quick shift so knew that must have been the problem.

Saw an R1M in the flesh for the first time the other day, they look better than they do in the pics.

  11. GT's have a R1m in stock may see if they will up there offer.
Our has gone in for quickshift, new dash, bottom yoke, clutch casing, l/h faring, and the l/h black trim below the tank.. I'm glad I took the extended warranty at this rate !!

  12. I had the same with my 1299S and had to replace the QS rod and switch assembly. The part number has changed, so I wonder if there is an upgrade. The fault lights came on even when disabling the QS, but it's an easy fix

  13. Yep this is whats happening to me.

The delays were due to waiting on Ducati signing off the warranty claim and sending the part from Italy

  14. I've had the same problem seems pretty poor for an 18K bike
