Insuring A Ducati In Central London?

Discussion in 'Insurance - Sponsored by Ducati Insurance' started by Makarra, Aug 15, 2017.

  1. I'm well up to speed with insuring motors of all sorts over the past 20 years, although this is the first time I've ever had to insure I guess what they class as a "high value" bike. I'm finding that price comparison sites are pretty much not providing any quotes due to the high value, leaving me with no alternative but to ring around each and every insurer who then have to refer it... well... most of you probably know the drill! Everyone I've come across that owns a Ducati (and other brands for that matter) tells me they pay so little compared to me... but then I've yet to come across anyone that lives in central London and I guess the value of a Panigale R carries it's fair share of the blame too! Does anyone on here insure a high value bike in central London and pay a reasonable premium? And if so with what insurer? I've got 15 years NCD, a garage and all that jazz... previous owner of my bike tells me he was paying multiple times less than I'm paying and we both happen to be with the same insurer... but he lives out in the middle of nowhere! I know it's a bit of a long shot but I thought I'd ask!

  2. Mate I wouldn't want to be you, I know this is no help but it's a fucking nightmare at the moment with how things are!

  5. How central are you? I am north london 54 year-old 9 years no claims, mts1200s 2013 when value was 13k insurance was 350 FC, value now 7.5K and insurance is 330 FC. With Ducati Insuranve the last several years.

  6. Hey there Michel, I'm around the Baker Street end of town so pretty horribly central! I gave Ducati Insurance a ring prior to buying the bike and they are there or thereabouts with the sky high quotes that I've been getting, the lowest of which is about £2800 Fully Comp. Thanks for giving me a shout and in all honesty, I don't think there's gonna be any magic solution!

  7. Ouch that would be a very expensive area fof insurance. However let us know who is giving the best quotes as it may be a better insurer will then price match, there are some insurers to avoid like the plague...

  8. Are you nuts ?? Panigale "R" in central London?? Probably cheaper to move house and commute than insure that bike there !! No help whatsoever, and am feeling your pain !! £2800 just sucks !!

  9. I'm down in the Wimbledon area and pay about £600 with 4 years no claims & fully comp. I have a 2012 848 Evo and it costs almost double what i was paying for a Honda CBR 600. I go through BikeSure and they were about the lowest i could find with all the items i wanted included. Ducati insurance were one of the highest for me when i phoned for a quote.

    Good luck.

  10. Never have eye-watering £850-£1100 TPO quotes looked to stupidly tempting!
