Quickshifter results............... Now in

  1. Took the bike out for a ride this morning in the wet and used the QS for the first time, it is great!! It did take a bit of getting used to though i must admit as it is alien to not let the throttle roll off while changing gear. Once i was dialed in it was child's play and changed gear virtually instantaneously which resulted in a very smooth progress to speed with no jolts.
I am very happy with the results and it even changes down gears perfectly which is useful coming into corners.

  2. There are few feelings better than the one you get from holding the throttle to the stop and clicking through the gears ;)

  8. Got my HM Plus fitted over the weekend and a quick blast out yesterday, as I expected awesome, smooth and precise :)

Arthur could you maybe shed some light on the gear box damage comments related to Quick shifters, I have run translogic and HM on the R1, fireblade and now 1098 and have never had an issue, is it possible to damage the gearbox with a correctly set up shifter ?

Pics of it fitted :) waiting on red cable ties ;)

  9. I put an HM one on the 998 - as the engine electronics aren't as sophisticated as the 1098/1198/1199 generation of testa engines, it worked by plugging in to a PCIII and cutting the fuelling rather than ignition. It was smooth on upshift, but consistently hit a false neutral between 5 and 6.... and I just couldn't get on with it on the road - makes you ride quicker as that buzz of having it pinned and hooking another gear and another and another... is a bit addictive....

  10. Thanks Arthur very informative and thanks for taking the time to write all that :)

All the time I have used the HM with strain gauge I have never had an issue with bad shifts but did with mechanical translogic shifter, so I guess that proves a point ;)

  12. Arthur - thats why I took it off fairly sharpish - due to mechanical sympathy for the box....!

  13. Do they make the HM for the Hypermotard?

  14. So on the list then;
    ohlins front
    TTX rear
    carbon wheels
    carbon race airtubes
    new paint job

    and now HM q/s

thanks! and where do I get the money for that lot...and to think I was selling it 2 weeks ago...

    Lol

  15. Be aware that cutting ignition will send unburn fuel into exhaust pipe, if you still have catalyzer fitted that fuel will burn there due temperature and this is a possible reason for some stock fitted qs works on fuel.
I'm not sure this will be an issue, I'm sure it is with traction control but it will work for much longer time then 70ms of qs

How well switch or load cell works may depends also on Ecu are connected to, on my 749RS I used to have a corse lever (reverse ones) with a switch embedded and never missed a gear, but it was connected directly into microtec ecu that did all the work.

  16. All that cash to waste? So easy to upshift without the clutch with a little throttle control practice. I never crunch or miss a gear and unless ur in a race situation I bet the standing 1/4 time won't alter a diddly squit. Quickshifting on a downshift, no thanks, I prefer to avoid highsides.
