1200 DVT Load Settings - What Is The Effect?

  1. On my previous bikes I'm familiar with setting up suspension, I'm happy measuring sag and playing with preload, compression and rebound settings
Electronic suspension is new to me and I just need to know what changes what so I can get my 2015 1200S just right
My question is about what the owners manual calls the 'load settings' - rider only, rider plus luggage, etc
If I program all the load settings in a chosen mode with the same Front, Rear and Preload settings will selecting say Rider only or Two up plus luggage give me exactly the same ride or does it realise that two up needs more preload. I.e. Is it just a pre-selection or does two up plus luggage automatically increase the preload and alter the suspension

  2. It adds preload and affects how the bike sits :)

  3. Thanks Bradders - do I take it that it adds preload which affects how the bike sits or does it also affect compression/rebound?
Kind of begs the question why I need to pre-set the four load-settings for the four rider modes if the suspension is then going to over ride my setting for the different loads and harden up anyway.
Suppose my weight means my preload is 10. Do I set 10 for all load settings or do I increase preload as normal for the added weight of two up etc
(Im on my hols in Croatia and the bike is at home so too far to sit and fiddle and experiment!)

  4. Preload, and you can amend each loads setting (single, 2 riders, single plus luggage, 2-up plus luggage) for comp/reb too. Its very customisable if you take the time.
