Hi guys help needed. Checking over fuses today on my SS s trying to find why i have no power to the usb plug and came across a 7.5amp fuse blown in fuse box A...replaced thinking job done only find still no power..typical man then looked up fuse in manual. Says its for the "optional key" Few questions: 1 what is the "optinol key" which fuse was blown? 2 Does the usb have to be "activated" by dealer? 3 anyone have ideas why no power to usb? Thanks
The fuse marked "Optional Key" supplies the USB socket, the optional Bluetooth module, the supplementary socket (situated near the steering head for satnav power or whatever) and also an ignition switched supply to the optional alarm. In answer to your questions. 1. "Optional Key" possibly refers to the "Key On" circuit for optional extras - bluetooth module, alarm, satnav. 2. No, no activation is required. 3. The USB socket has a 12V to 5V DC to DC converter built into it. It's possible that this has failed and took out the fuse when it did. Since the bike is under warranty I suggest you take it up with your dealer.
