Discussion in 'Tyres' started by DjM, Oct 2, 2017.

  1. Looking at some new tyres , wondered where you guys and girls who go through a few sets of hoops a year go to buy yours .
    They are for my 749 120 /70 R17 & 180 /55/ R17
two price i have so far is :-
    ***************black circles Oponeo
    power rs*********£238.55 £210
    battlax rs10******£236.26 £222

    TIA
    Dan

  2. I get mine through a local Suzuki motorcycle dealership & they then do a fitting discount. Never had an issue but I certainly don't use BMW/Ducati for either of my bikes tire purchases. As they always are a premium above other suppliers & don't offer a discount fitting service. BMW use to love adding the "..your pads are running low do you want us to swap them for new ones?..". I'm sure many punters have been under the realm of safety; duped into changing pads earlier than needed.

If I had the confidence & trained knowledge I would love to fit my own at some-point. Do you fit your own tires @DjM?

  3. no i don't fit my own tyres , i have a local place that it'll fit the tyres on the rims . i prefer to take the wheels on and off myself , that way i know everything is refitted and torqued up correctly :)

  4. Oponeo who you have checked already are always good. My other choice is Tyreleader

  5. I was bored so searched for you.

    Tyreleader prices are:

    Bridgestone RS10 113.50 / 127.91
    Michelin RS 92.29 / 122.99

  7. May not be of use to the OP because they don't sell Bridgestone or Michelin (Continental, Dunlop, Metzeler, Pirelli) but I buy from Parkitt Racing. Good price, fast reliable delivery, excellent customer service and they're in the UK with a proper high street premises and a telephone that gets answered by a human being.

  8. I always use FWR. Sometimes I drop by, other times i get them delivered and pop down to watlings for fitment. FWR always, for me, seem to have the best deals. Plus I like the guys there.

  9. My tyres.co.uk very cheap, quick delivery

  10. Thanks very much :upyeah:
So as there isn't much in the prices , which is the preferred tyre ?
Looking with something with good front end feel , not loads of grip..grip..grip oh now i'm kissing the tarmac :dizzy:, abit of warning would be good lol .
i heard the metz k3 give no warning before letting go .
Anyone used the bridgestone rs10 or the michelin power rs ?

  11. I ripped my Power RS to pieces in a TD. Finished it off a treat trying to get a 2nd TF out of it. Not 100% if it was pressure, suspension, riding style, not warming up or crap rubber IMAG1569.jpg ......Got a fresh one on and trying another TD in 10days so hoping for better.......

  12. :astonished: yeah i would hope to get more than one day out of them tbh lol .
But were you impressed with the tyre ?? not the wear side of thing obviously :p

  13. Well I didn't crash so that's the 1st test passed. Yeah, happy I guess, not any massive improvement over the Rosso3 on my 996. I'm no tyre guru though.

  14. cheers
i'm hoping to go to lydden on the 21st so i'll have to make my mind up soon

  15. I tend to be an old fart when it comes to tyres and use local garages, every now and again I might genuinely need a garage so keeping "in" so to speak, is worth a few quid extra

  16. Thanks for all your reply's guys :upyeah:.
Well it turns out i ended going for supercorsa sp v2 tyres ... still not quite sure what happened there but hey ho :grinning: .
quick question to those who run these tyres , what would be a good starting point pressure wise for track ?
Do they work well at 32f 30r hot pressures ? i'm not using warmers or anything like that which is the reason i went for sp .
    TIA

  17. I've just bought a new Michelin from Tyreleader, best price from anyone. Price includes VAT & delivery, have a gander.
