  5. You do get about

  6. Update.

I've heard that the factory has now cleared the floor of the existing production line for the old bikes (GP450 etc.) and is now crammed with parts ready to assemble the first of the original 150 single seat Spitfires. Delivery to start November. Then in around eight weeks time they should start to produce the first Scramblers and after the Xmas/New Year break they'll be registered and ready for delivery.
Mine's one of the first so January it is then.:upyeah:

After that, all I've got to do is wait for winter to pass.......: unamused:

  7. Yes can’t wait. I had heard their scrambler build dates had slipped. At least they will be 2018 bikes. Have you seen the optional extras list. Are you tempted for any upgrades. ??

  8. Yes, I have. :astonished:
Think I'll wait to see pictures of the stuff from the brochure first.

Definitely won't be dropping 5K on the Ohlins/Brembo combo though!

  9. Indeed a bit heavy on the wallet for that option. Ti exhaust and remap not cheap either. !! Billet pack I could go for. Looking forward to some proper pictures of the stuff.

  10. No benefit from the Ti exhaust imho. Standard is light as f*ck anyway. Just a short tube and don't fancy paying loadsamoney for a pipe to turn a pretty colour at one end. Prob. go for the increased power remap in time though - once I've tried the standard for a while.
Quite fancy some extra shiny stuff though!

  11. My mate ordered one at the show last year and still hasn't got it.

  14. I looked at these too, very nice design they have but I worry that they could disappear as quickly as some other niche brands have tried.
I spoke to a sales person regarding the bikes and was shocked to see service intervals at 3500 miles, why so low given that the bike is hardly a racing machine with enormous horsepower.
Then asked about the dealer service network.....erm there isn’t one?
Only the factory in Bolton, this is going to be a pain in the derreire for anyone who lives far away then?
Oh and the warranty will only be honoured if the bikes come back to the factory.
Now I wish them luck, but they are not selling high end bikes costing £50K plus to a customer base who can afford to have his machine shipped to any place cost no object.

  15. Couldn’t agree more and yes had the same conversation. Still a great looking bike but with to many issues before and after purchase. The salesman even told me there were only 2 left of the 200 build so give me £500 deposit now or miss owning one.

  16. If this rides ok will probably order one

  17. So I have taken the plunge and bought a spitfire scrambler. Should be getting mine Christmas time. Was thinking about getting a triumph and then ‘customising’ it flat tracker/scrambler style. Saw the ccm and thought I like the look of that with out having to mess around. I see it as a fun bike just to potter around on with out have to put on full leathers etc. Just jeans and jacket and may be even an open face helmet. It will be a second bike so will still have the pani for other motorbike stuff. There seems to be lots of negativity towards this bike. I guess if you don’t like it don’t buy one.

  18. I was drooling over the Cafe Racer at the bike show, I must add one to my wish list. They are only made down the road so I might drop in next time Im passing.

  19. Concern about no dealer network and a 3500 mile service interval where you have to return the bike to the factory for service to maintain the warranty is not negetive, it's a step back in time. Andy

  20. Latest:

The factory have had a problem with their original fuel tank supplier (they weren't able to produce tanks of high enough quality/quantity in the time expected), so another tank manufacturer has been contracted to help fill the gap. From my chats with those in the know at CCM HQ it looks like the supply problem is close to being sorted. Meanwhile, at least 75 original Spitfires have been built and now just await a tank - with first deliveries expected this month (Feb).
They expect my Scrambler to commence build in early March and completion/delivery will all depend on fuel tank supply so I'll now guess..........er......... early April??
That's fine by me, I'm glad they haven't bowed to pressure and rushed it at the expense of quality, plus it's the perfect time of the year to get a new bike. If I'd got it in January it would only be sitting around being used as a dust gatherer anyway.
So, it's getting there & I suspect happy days in the not too distant future - oh yeah! :grinning:
