Under Slung Rear Caliper

Discussion in '851 / 888' started by jack999s, Oct 22, 2017.

  1. Notice some 851/ 888's have an under slung rear caliper, Just wondering why there shifted to the lower location?

  2. I copied this from Mr.R.(Steve)from another forum.:

"The idea of the fancy fully floating underslung caliper anchored to the frame via the tie rod is...
When the brake is applied it pulls the rear wheel down into the tarmac, thus cutting down on wheel hop.
It was a fashion/blind ally followed at the time rather like the anti-dive front forks in the early 80's."

So it was something that come from the race bikes, the carbon rods where also know for braking when you pushed on the brake pedal on pushed the bike back.
    But they do look cool.

    Henk!!!
