mate of mine has had a similar experience with his V2, runs hot, continual niggles/problems. Last track day at Brands he made one session before...
I do use it occasionally on the road but track days is where I get my kicks these days

I have a 959 and love it, but I’d go with the 1299 if budget allows, especially if you’re going to do track days on anything other than the short...
be nice to have it, though not for me if the increases in power drive the prices of new bikes up even higher
