1*98 ecu change

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by idrinkbeer, Jan 7, 2013.

  1. thought i would post this in case its of use to anyone........i wanted to try a new ecu as my 1098s has a slight miss at a constant throttle at about 3k revs. i fitted new plugs and borrowed coils but to no avail. the bike has a dp ecu and termi end cans. so i thought i would try a standard map ecu ( no harm having a spare ). i picked up a brand new ecu from e gay and was worried the immobiliser would prevent it working,i have been told the immobiliser is in the clocks on the 1*98 and 848 but wasnt sure. well fitted the new ecu and the bike starts and runs but shows a managment light ,when i then checked i found my lambda sensor removed so will try to pick one up cheap.
so if anyone is thinking of fitting different ecu,s this may be of interest.

  2. If you are putting the standard ECU back on I guess you are putting the standard pipes and as you say the Lambda sensor aswell.

  3. PM'd you about a spare lambda Stephen.

  4. its only so i can see does it cure the slight miss. if it does then i can reflash the original dp ecu and keep the new one for future use ( you never know what those lovely people in europe will think of next for mot,s )

  5. woo hoo!!!!!!! anth has very kindly offered a free lamda sensor for the price of p&p.....just shows there are good honest people in this world. thanks anth.:upyeah:
