Hi Guys, I'm new here and have searched but can't quite find the info I've been looking for. Apologies for I feel is a really inane-asked-a-million-times-before question. I'm picking up a new 1200S "Touring" on Friday and I'm a little concerned about the general lack of front fender and that likely impact on the engine area. I'll be giving her a liberal coating in ACF-50 just as soon as I can but I've been looking around and whilst I think I've found a few extender options but I'm never really sure if they're going to work on a 2015+ bike. I see plenty of items which state they're suitable for 2010 onwards but I thought the 2015 bike was very different so not sure if they are suitable. I know a lot of resellers won't have updated their stock descriptions beyond 2014 and so I'm left a little bewildered. Can someone clear up just how different the 2015 model really is - are there any shared component options? Better still, if someone could point me at either a really good extender or full front mudguard solution I would be eternally grateful. Thanks, Phil
Hi Rainman, get the dealer to check the part numbers, if their the same have a look at the Ilmberger carbon front mudguard. I fitted an extender on my original mudguard and rubbed the tyre, so got the Ilmberger mudguard which was almost as long as the original mudguard with the extender fitted.
The same fender extender fits all models 2010 - 2016 as the front mudguard is very similar between all these models. Care should be taken on the 2015+ models as a fender extender may make contact with engine bars / head guards. I think Ducati even recommend not installing the longer rear part of the front mudguard if the Touratech engine bars are installed. I have an Evotech head guard, along with their radiator and oil cooler guards, and there are some small marks on the fender extender which I think may have been caused by clashes with the head guard under heavy breaking. I've not felt anything and plan to leave the the fender extender in place. I'd say the front mudguard is about the only similar part between the 2010-2014 and 2015+ models, just about everything else is different.
