  1. Arriving in 2019....... so ive read.

  2. I've just read it too. :p

  3. Of course it will, they won't be able to enter it into WSB if its not homologated. :upyeah:

  4. Pinched from tinternet:
The 1000cc version of the V4-engined Panigale Ducati will race in 2019 broke cover at Jerez today, where the Italian marque are testing with Lorenzo Zanetti alongside their World Superbike team.

Aruba Ducati’s Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri are expected to get their first run out on the V4 race steed in at least one test this year, while reigning British Superbike champion Shane Byrne is also set to test the new offering at some point this season.

    I cannot wait....Yipppeeee

  5. I thought this had been common knowledge for months - some have deposits down don't they?

  6. Allegedly

  7. It was at a test a week or so ago - is this an old report

  8. To best of my knowledge this was always Ducati’s plan.

  9. yep - I got to speak to my all time hero Shaky Byrne at the bike show. He said no V4 for this year due to the capacity issue but that they'd have a bike for next year. So its the 1299/959 thing but I guess a v4 1299/1000 ... its a shame shaky'll have to ride "the little bike" :)

  10. In 2017, Ducati may have mentioned that in 2019 it would be a V4R to 1000cc. With the current 1100CC V4 being 100cc too large for WSBK/BSB agreed current rules.

Oh yes order placed for early 2019 hopefully.

  11. What do we think the R will get, other than being more highly strung, costly to run and exclusive?

  13. Oh and lets not forget the "options list" as long as your arm the new price cap rules will only allow a race/ road bike to be priced at about £35000 or so.

  14. What is the base currency for this rule?

  15. Its WSBK/ Dorna's rules to make it a more level playing field I believe.

    http://www.bikesportnews.com/news/n...the-homologation-special-what-happens-in-2017

    WSBK Homologation Rules
The current rules state that 125 units must be produced at the time of the first homologation inspection, 250 by the end of the bike’s first year of racing in WSBK, and 500 by the end of the second year. In an attempt to ensure that costs do not get completely out of control, engine tuning is still limited and a price cap of £35,000 has been put on all homologation bikes.

We have already seen this on the V4 with the Speciale. You can buy either STD Panigales wheels or Magnesium 1's an additional £3800 or so quid. So I expect the V4R to have a bigger options list.

  16. I reckon if they're forced to retail at 35k, you'll get a stonking engine and electronics package and not much else. Interesting times.

  17. Could be like older R and race models that come with basic parts as Ducati expect them to be changed by the race teams maybe??

  18. I’m struggling to see how it’s going to be a better bike for us mere mortals.

The 1100 Tuono is such an amazing machine on the road and track thanks to the extra capacity, I found it far more grin inducing than the RSV4.

I guess that the point of the R, a specialist tool, maybe it will have adjustable geometry...
