i have 2 questions about my 1000ds 2003. , where are the points where I can attach a cable that only receives power when the key is turned? I'm installing a dash cam; the positive and negative go to the battery, and then there's a trigger wire (ACC) that needs to be connected to a point that only has power when the ignition is on. Since I'm installing the power supply near the battery, where can I tap into? please give a detailed explenation or pics would be great, i'm not very familiar with the bike yet only taken it apart 2 times. question 2: My bike is pretty much stock, the only modification is LED lights (which, if I’m not mistaken, draw slightly less than the stock 55W halogen bulbs). When I turn on the Oxford heated grips , which should draw about 2–4A, plus I charge my phone using the fast charger (around 10–20W), the battery voltage drops to 13V/13.3 (when riding, at idle it might dip slightly lower) Is it possible there’s a problem? We’re only talking about 30–50W more compared to the stock bike. which is supposed to handle heated grips as they were sold as optional Is the alternator really that weak? Or maybe the voltage regulator needs to be replaced? (Without accessories it charges correctly at around 14V.) On another bike this happened to me when the voltage regulator was dying, and with the heated grips on it was “struggling.” Once I replaced it, I solved the problem (that bike was from 1997 with no electronics, so a pretty similar situation to this one — meaning bikes designed with very few “extra” watts available, since back then there weren’t so many accessories). Today I've cleaned the connectors on the voltage regulator, they were a bit corroded also cleaned the ground cable going to ECU and the one on the engine. however no improvement, so guessing thats not my issue.
