1000 1000s Ds - What To Look Out For...

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Ascalon, Mar 11, 2016.

  1. Spotted a cracking deal on a 1000s DS in the local classifieds.

Apart from weak fork seals on the OEM Ohlins, what is there to look out for?
Also, is there anything to 1100 over the 1000? Apart from the few extra ponies!
    ?

    Cheers,

    A

  2. Can't really advise, but what a cracking bike. I was given the use of one for a couple of days, the weather was kind and the country lanes beckoned. It was a 1000 ds battered and neglected, and all the better for it. Having moved through the monster range to a multi I missed out on this one. It reminds me of a 900ss I used to own with its raw unpolished delivery of power. That coupled with a back brake that works and quirky looks what's not to love?

  3. Well, it is kind of the power delivery I was worried about.
Coming from a desmoquatro ST4s, I'd be worried it would feel a bit weedy in the top end. But also being 20Kgs lighter it might cancel it out.

I had a long spin on mixed roads of a friend's Hyper 1100 and I wasn't blown away by the delivery, and it was even lighter than a Multi would be.

  4. Ahh coming from a desmoquatro STs is certainty going to have an effect on your prospective. The power won't blow you away, my multi is a far superior machine but I guess it took me back to my memories of my first Ducati. Loads of fun and not too precious, that sort of thing.
