I want to fit a 104 bore barrel on a 999 engine block. Does anyone know if the only limiting factor is the crankcase mouth - i.e. do the stud and bolt paterns match and will the barrel fit if the cases are widened for it? Other options I suppose include a 999r barrell but they are a bit rare or maybe a streetfighter barrel? I wanted to know how much variation there is in mounting patterns leaving aside the crankcase mouth issue? Grateful for any help or pictures...
Different engines/cases. Check stud positions and waterways as well if I were you. My gut feeling is they wont fit at all.
I think yo umight be right but not having a 1098 or 999r barrel to play with, it's probably going to be an expensive job to buy one just to try. I fully expect to have to open the crankcase mouth on the 999 to make one fit, it's the problem of studs and cooling holes that concerns me. Has anyone got a barrel of a 1098 they could do a tracing or pencil rubbing of for me so I can cross check? Worth a try!
