I just purchased one of my dream bikes a, 2007, 1098 covered just over 8,000m one owner (a friend) full Ducati service history. I took it to brands last week where the vertical cam belts shredded itself. On further inspection looks like the tensioner was rubbing against the timing belt cover. The belt didn't break but possibly jumped maybe one tooth. I have read on the net that these were recalled for this sort of problem. The tensioners and rollers are plastic. Now to replace the both rollers and tensioners and new belts I'm looking at around £400 just parts. What's the chances of Ducati reviewing this?? My friend never received any notice of such recall. Is it worth mentioning it to Ducati or wouldn't you bother given the time and mileage etc. Advice welcome.
