1098, Bleed front brakes

  1. Hi,
I’ve replaced the front brake pads and want to replace the brake fluid, when bleeding the brakes which nipple do I bleed first, ie the master cylinder one?
    Thanks

  2. then nipple at the master cyl is only really there for when you start with no fluid at all........ you can bleed from the two callipers that will be fine to change the fluid.......

  3. Do it from the caliper end, just be sure to keep an eye on the level of fluid in the reservoir.

  4. The best way for most people is caliper first, then master cylinder then back to caliper that way you should expel any trapped air.

  5. Thanks everybody, last thing does it matter which caliper you do last! (N/S or O/S)

  6. I always do near side first...furthest away from master. also, it's worth syringing the old fluid out of the reservoir first, the push the pads back to push more old fluid into the reservoir, syringe it empty again and then fill with fresh and start bleeding. Gets more of the old fluid out and it's easier to spot the new coming out as it doesn't get mixed with the old fluid.
