1098 Seat Upgrade

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by Ryan, Feb 2, 2017.

  1. I'm looking for a nice upgraded seat, I polished my bike before the winter came and the seat is covered in white dry stained polish.

Firstly any idea how to clean it off I tried just washing it with bike shampoo that I have but doesn't seem to get it off.

Secondly I would prefer a nicer seat on it does anyone know of or have example of some nice seats that I could get?

    Thanks in advance :)

  2. Try a sparing amount of brake cleaner on a cloth to clean the seat. Car shampoo has wax in it so probably won't remove wax polish.
The best option for a new seat is probably to get it reupholstered, especially if its only the rider's seat you want to change. Its small and wouldn't be expensive and you could have whatever style you like. I find the SF seat a bit slippery against my track leathers and I've yet to find an aftermarket option I like.

  3. Unless you are short it has to be a Superpole seat. The stock seat is way too slippery and it's shape just wants you to slide forward all the time. The superpole unit shares nothing in terms of shape with the oem unit. Best mod I ever did to my bike by far.

  4. I had a company called Saxon do my 1098s seat. They did a great job but I had gell pads added and I never felt quite right afterwards. I think it just lifted me a bit. Hey ho if they are still around an exellent job and cost me £100.

    Regards Steve

  5. Cheers lads

I will try a touch of brake cleaner in the mean time.

Do you know where I can get ye super pole unit?

  6. Superpole seats are official Ducati parts so if you want new order from a dealer or online but they aren't cheap. I got mine used from Ebay for about £90

  7. Have to say I find my seat perfectly comfortable and I don't slide forward - at least not in my normal road leathers and I've got the fork lifted in the yokes and the back has been lifted a touch by the ride height adjuster as well. Its just that when I've got my other leathers on and I'm pushing on a bit I slide around under braking and if I hang off I have to grip really hard with my outside knee to stop myself sliding off further than I want to. Doesn't feel nice and makes my legs ache.
I thought about having a grip patch added to the leathers but it doesn't happen on my KTM so if must be the seat.
I think I'll got for recovering. Should be cheaper than £90.
Superpole seat looks nice but don't like the price...

  8. i like these luimoto covers but its just to recover original seat
