1098 Streetfighter Termi Cans Size Question..

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Gimlet, Jul 21, 2015.

  1. Can anyone tell me if the Termi end cans from the full system are the same as the slip-ons sold for use on the stock exhaust? My SF has slip-on Termis on the OE pipework. I'd like the benefits of the full Termi system but I don't know whether the cans from the full system are the same as the slip-ons I already have.

My slip-ons fit inside the OE tail pipes. Looking at other bikes with the full system it appears that on those the cans fit inside the Termi tails as well, so either both systems have the same size bore or the cans with the full system are not the same as the slip-ons, in which case buying just the Termi plumbing won't help me much.
Does anyone know if this is so and whether I can save a fortune and get a full system by buying just the Termi plumbing?

If anyone has some full system 1098 SF Termi cans off the bike could they measure the internal and external diameter of the stubs to see if they're the same size as mine?

  2. Can't help you as regards the SF. But the SBK slip ons have the same ID as the ones for the full system. No difference.

  3. Termignone say the cans are not the same. And they've stopped making systems for the 1098 SF. Thanks to Steve at Conquest Carbon for making enquiries.
And it looks at though the power advantages of the full system over the slip-ons is so small (2 lb of torque and less than 3 bhp) that it isn't worth spending the money. I'm still convinced that the standard exhaust system with Termi cans (and the Termi full system too, I suspect) is restrictive.
Project for this winter: research a custom made exhaust system.
