hello all help please... got the chance of buying an ohlins steering damper plus fitting kit for a 1098s. been doing my reading up and want to adapt this to my 848 (non evo). as these don't have the stem welded to the frame, i'll have to go down the fork top route. so can anyone give me the diameter of the fork leg so i can get the bracket on the right made? a mate of mine over here in spain says if i give him the diameter, he'll knock one up for us. thanx. ian
Theres the Dan Kyle alternative. Looks a much better solution in my opinion and ive been using 1 on my 848 for years! I believe the forks are 50mm at the top yoke but thats from memory.

Doesn't the The 1098's damper sit upright rather than laid flat like in the photo, if so you'll need a new clamp machining as well. I thought all the tops were 53mm but could be wrong.
Just measured top fork diameter at 53mm. It takes 10 mins to drill and tap the top yoke. Then it will be the same as every other top yoke in the superbike line up.
1098 Ohlins forks are 53mm at the top, 56mm at the bottom yoke. The Showa forks are 53mm top/53mm bottom.
yes, chris. looks like the kyle system is the way to go. judging by the pics the seller's sent me, the only bit i'll have to get is the black bar which goes over the key guard mounting points and supports the other end of the damper.
Yes this is what i have fitted to my bike. If you can find a damper from a 916 (SD121 i think) series bike you can do the mod really cheap. Dan will sell just the bracket seperatly.
