1098s Ohlins Rear Shock Rebound Problem

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Dubs, Aug 19, 2014.

  1. Im sure some of you have came across this...?

i got the suspension set up on the bike at the weekend. Spent considerable time with the susp guy to get it right, sag, ride hieght, compression, the whole shooting match. All good so far, but...

Only one problem....the rebound bolt at the bottom of the shock wasnt being compliant. So, we had to work around but pretty much the rear is as it should be.

Question is this: without removing the shock altogether, is there a knack to getting at this rebound bolt ( using ball end allen key as we couldnt seem to get it to budge ) ?

  2. what I did to mine was............in line with the bottom adjuster ( rebound ) bore an access hole. if you check you will find there is a web of metal that allows you to drill without effecting the strength of the part......have a look and see what I mean.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. tks IDB, will check it out and let you know how i get on....

  4. Hi All..

rebound has the bike pushing a little wide in corners and also feels stiff on hilly roads.

I have done some research and there is a small bit of drilling that can be done on the swingarm to reach the rebound screw.

Anyone else drilled their swingarm ? :Woot:
